problem with included content...Frontpage can't open file

I keep a copy of my website on my computer and make all changes from the computer, verify they are correct, and then upload them. On each page, I have three includes, a header, sidebar, and footer. Here's the question: every now and then, when I am in frontpage and I open up a html file (local on my computer), it will open the html page and will show the NON-included content, and when it tries to "pull" in the included content, a pop-up window will open saying "Cannot open file C:\blahblahblah\FrontpageTempDir\blahblah.html". There will be three pop-up windows, one for each of the included pages that it can't seem to open

There doesn't seem to be any consistancy to this, as sometimes things work perfectly for hours on end, and other times, I can open one file and it will keep showing this same problem

Can someone please explain as to what can be done to avoid this

Thanks much.

We're not sure what's causing it. To work around it, let FP finish
displaying the error messages, switch to Code View, then back to Design
view, and choose View | Refresh. The complete page will then load in the
Design View window.

Always open your FP Web/Site first (especially when using include pages),
- do not open just a page

Stefan:
This occurs with web sites open - it happens to me on almost a daily basis.

Me too. The only way I've gotten it to stop for awhile in the past was to
delete the FP temp files, close the web, delete all .web files, delete all
FP-related files in all temp folders, reboot, have Windows XP check for
errors and automatically fix them on the partition that the disc-based web
is located, reboot, open up the web in FP again, then recalculate
hyperlinks. If I skip any of these steps, it doesn't fix the problem.
There's definitely a coding bug related to include pages in FP2003 and how
they call up temporary files to create the include page content on the
target web page and something to do with the way my OS indexes files on the
NTFS partition and it aggravates me to no end.

I don't get that at all and use a lot of includes,
- but I have IE dump all IE temp files on closing IE and keep that folder empty using a utility named IE Erase

The user indicated the error was:
"Cannot open file C:\blahblahblah\FrontpageTempDir\blahblah.html"

TBMK in FP2003 the FP temp folder is in the IE temp folder
- used heavily if working on a server based web
I suspect if your IE temp folder reaches it's limit, it trashes older files (the include pages being some of the files that are
deleted) - thus causing the momentary error until FP creates a new temp file

| I, too, have that problem periodically. However, I keep clicking okay until
| the error stops coming up, then click refresh and the problem is gone.
