problem with folders opening

everytime i double click on a folder, instead of just opening the folder like
normal, it keeps opening a search folder. i've gone into the folder views
options, restored the defautls, applied to all folders, and even gone into
the file options and it still says that open is the default for the action of
a folder. please help!!
