Problem with Erunt and Ntregopt

F

Frank Bohan

After installing XP Service Pack 2, I've found that neither Erunt nor
Ntregopt will work. Erunt produces a folder called SECURITY containing a
null size file, Ntregopt brings up a message "error optimizing registry hive
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SECURITY!".

As I've installed several other system related programs, I cannot be
absolutely sure that SP2 is responsible, so could anyone with XP(SP2) who
uses Erunt/Ntregopt check to see if there is a problem. In the meantime I'll
revert to backing up the registry with Regedit.

It may be that this is part of the improved security which is supposed to be
included with SP2. No other problems have surfaced yet!!!

I had the same problem, but then a new version of ERUNT was released a
few days later. I installed that and the problem disappeared. Give it
a try.

No problems with SP2 but using ERUNT 1.1g 02 Nov 2004 (backs up a lot
quicker than previously).

I've been running v1.1f, dated 08/26/2004, with SP2 via nnCronLite
scheduler twice a day since that version was released. No problems.
I can't vouch for any previous versions as I never ran them under SP2.

Thanks for this (and all other replies). I noticed after posting that there
was mention elsewhere of a later version so I'll give it a try as you
suggest.
