Hi,
I used to run my PC (XP Professional, SP1) in an LAN
intranet environment, but now since I moved the PC to my
own home I use a regular modem dialup connection to access
the internet.
My modem is a PCI Netodragon MDV92XP with WinXP-certified
drivers and it works just finde, but when I try to
disconnect manually by clicking on that little symbol on
the right below side of the taskbar (you know, this "two
screen connected"-like-symbol), Windows prompts this
strange error alert reading "Cannot disconnect because
other programs are trying to connect or disconnect" - what
kind of problem do I have to deal with here? Plus, I can`t
even get into the "netwprk status" screen. I have several
different dialup connections, and the problem appears with
all of them. The only way that I can successfully
disconnect is by ripping the modem off the socket. That
works fine, but this shouldn´t be state of the art in a
sophisticated operating system, right?
Another strange thing is that I cannot connect to internet
manually by clicking "connect to" in the program launcher.
The only way I achieve this is by clicking on any internet
or mail application like Mozilla, IE, Opera etc.
does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?
