Problem with DBEngine.CompactDatabase

I think I've found a Bug in Access 2000 SP-3 (9.0.6926): I'm doing a

DBEngine.CompactDatabase "old.mdb", "new.mdb", dbLangGeneral, dbVersion40

where old.mdb ist either an Access2 oder Access97 mdb and contains only a
few small tables. The conversion finishes successfully but new.mdb cannot be
opened correctly. There is no error message but the database window isn't
visible either. When I'm using dbVersion30 instead, it works fine.

I'm using DAO360.DLL (Version 3.60.8618.0) from MDAC 8.
