Problem with creating an event from a dropdown lsit

Dear all
i would like to create and event whenever the user changes the value of a
dropdown list
how could this be done?
i tried to use the
"SelectedIndexChanged" but it didn't work, i could not run the code within
this event?

can anyone help me?
