Problem with copy and paste

Hello,
Seems to me I used to be able to copy and paste formulas
from one sheet/workbook to another. Now, whenever I copy
and paste from one sheet or workbook to another, the
worksheet cell references and formulas are lost.
What happened, and what can I do to fix it?

I can duplicate this if I have two instances of excel running--instead of one
instance and two workbooks open in that instance.
