Problem with Broadband Connection

I have recently upgraded the motherboard on my XP PC. When I set up
the new broadband connection it goes through the stages successfully.
The broadband modem is discovered and the appropriate lights go on
etc. The software also appears to install OK. But no connection is
made to the Internet and the real puzzling thing is that the network
connection doesn't actually appear in the Network Connections window.
The modem appears in Device Manager and indicates that it is working
correctly. Other devices like my camear connect to the USB socket
successfully.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

The software appears not to be installing ok; otherwise your modem would
show up in the Network Properties adapter list. OTOH, I don't use, won't
use, a USB broadband modem. That is what Ethernet is for. So I probably
don't know what I am talking about. I don't know how soon somebody who
actually knows anything about USB broadband modems will be along; Ethernet
is just more widely use than USB for broadband modem connection. So hang in
there; somebody surely knows something.

elaineuk123,
If you are using a USB connection with your modem, have you check your ISP, if they provided the modem, or the modem's manufacturer's website. You may have to install the latest USB driver for the modem. Then Reboot PC.
