We have a virus we can't identify. It stops us downloading anything mentioning the word 'virus' and we can't install security patches, updates etc or run online virus checks. We can't look at the processes in windows task manager and its using up all the cpu. We don't think it's the Sasser worm but does anybody know what it is??

Try hooking your computer (or just hard drive) to
another computer that works fine and has virus software
(backup this cpu first!!) then try running virus software
on local computer and point the virus search at it. Also
since you are connected at this time search the system
registry files for unknown items, this is hard and you
must know what you are doing!!! If all else fails format
you harddrive and have fun.
