Problem setting up Outlook Office 2007 with Microsoft Exchange Server

Audrey.S.Hill

Hi - I recently bought a new laptop and installed Vista Ultimate and
Office 2007 on it, which was fine.
However, when I opened Outlook, I was asked to set up my email
accounts, and because I recently started using a 2003 Microsoft
Exchange Server, I attempted to set that email account up.
I am not sure if I entered in the wrong details, but I got the message
"The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Your network
adaptor does not have a default gateway"...and only have the option of
clicking 'ok' which then brings up the Microsoft Exchange server
address and mailbox name, but even if I try to amend these or click on
'check name' (although I think they are correct), I get the same error
message: "The name cannot be resolved. The connection to Microsoft
Exchange is unavailable. Your network adaptor does not have a default
gateway"
The only option I have unless I want to keep gping around in circles
is to cancel, and I then get the message:
"Cannot open your default email folders. The file ...outlook.ost is
not an offline folder file"

Any advice? I have uninstalled both Office and Vista but it still
remembers my Exchange Server settings so I get the same problem over
and over.

Thank you!

Audrey and Chris

The account information is in the mail profile in the registry, so
uninstalling Outlook won't touch it. In Control Panel, use the Mail applet
to configure the mail profile to either fix the Exchange reference or remove
it.

the gateway problem is with a setting on the network card. are you using a
static ip? a firewall?

You say you are using a 2003 server, where is it? Is it on the same network
as you or at an internet address?
