problem running old dos apps in XP Pro

Hi am a user of Windows XP professional. I have an NVidia Geforce 2 MX400
3d card for my video. My problem is that when I try to run my old DOS games
like "Quake", "DOOM" and others like it the screen freezes and I can't get
anything to move (it automatically goes full screen). When I run DOS
applications in a window they work fine, when I maximize the screen the same
thing happens (freezes up). I have updated the latest detonator package on
my system.

Help I'm really in a fix...

Hello

Win XP is not a big fan od dos application so in some way your
