Please Help, recently I have installed Norton antivirus on my computer
and It has found a trogan virus that it can't quaratine or delete over
and over it agian it pop up. The virus attached itself to the Systems
folder and I was unable to delete. Someone told me to Reboot my system
for the Operating system Cd so I try that everytime I tried that It
would give me the option to Repair, install or quit so I chose repair.
I believe that it started to repair the problem but then it quit. Now
all it does it keep starting up over and over again when I try to
repair again it says there is no operating system installed on my
computer. Anybody has any idea what I can do. I know that I probably
lost everything on my computer but I can't even get it to do anything
but restart. I can't do the safe mode, I can't load from the last known
good configration, I can't even install it just keeps rebooting over
and over. I will get a blue screen that says restarting system and it
will do the same thing over and over. I am desperate please help.

it might help that if you use your cd and go into recovery mode, you may be
able to access the dos prompt and copy your document files to a safer
location.

i never attempted this, but you may even be able to use the diskpart commd
from dos and create a new partition where you can store these files, incase
your system partition us ti be sacrificed. might be able to create a new
install on the new partition as well and if you are successfule with creating
on via diskpart....
you might also want to do a chkdsk on the contaminated partition before
reattempting to "repair" you can type help at the cmd prompt via recovery
console to get a listing of some of the commands avail to you.

(just some ideas )

The next time you find an infection you need to turn off your system restore,
the virus corrupted files here, that is why the infection keep showing in the
system...if the antivirus failed to clean the infection you need to save only
the important files to a disk (to reinstall back) and you need to do a clean
install of the operating system (reformat , created new partitions)..after
you do a clean install and you want to save your files from the disk, you
need to scan this disk first before saving the files to you system (safe way
to prevent a reinfection)..

to try to get back lost files you can try one of these tools:
