Problem opening a certain PDF file

I have a pdf file from a mailorder computer outfit, TigerDirect. I need to read
the file, and print the file.

I have been using Adobe Acrobat Reader 3 and it has opened every other pdf file
I've had. But it won't open this one. I see a blank page.

I tried the latest Foxit and it shows the same.

This pdf file must be coded for the latest Acrobat Reader. I have avoided later
versions as they are bloated installs with spyware.

I have to open this file in the next few days, and have downloaded Acrobat Reader
5.05, have not installed it yet.

Does anyone know if Version 5.05 can open any modern pdf file?

Have you asked TigerDirect which version of Adobe's reader is required
to open their PDF?

I'm still waiting on a complaint letter to them. They have good prices, but are a
pain to order from. I expect the answer to your question would be too technical
for the customer service people.

Perhaps going to... http://convert.neevia.com/ ... and let them
convert it will work...

I also have had trouble ordering from Tiger Direct, they said they
needed my home phone number, when I said no they said I couldn't order
from them... nice

Did they e-mail the file to you? Is it on a disk? Did you download it?

PDFs are easily corrupted, especially when e-mailed. I always zip a PDF
when e-mailing it to myself or to others. For some reason it helps
prevent corruption.

Typically, when the file is corrupted it may display a blank page.

So if the file is corrupted, no PDF viewer will be able to read it.

Generally. It just complains that certain things may not display
correctly.

Thanks, the site could not convert the file, again a format problem.

Thanks for the info.

I installed 5.05, converted it to executable, then started cleaning up the folder.
As always, Acrobat Reader is loaded with garbage. I deleted the javascript,
ActiveX, browser, web buy folders, and it still runs OK.

As you said, I got that screen, then it opened the file so I could read it.

Problem solved, noted in thread.
