Problem on start up

I normally put my computer to Hibernate each evening.
This morning when I turned it on I am only receiving a
black screen with the line "Operating System not found".
I have windows XP and it has always worked perfectly.

Sounds like either your operating system became corrupt or, your hard drive went south.
