Problem linking or importing Excel 2002 spreadsheet to Access 2002

Every time I try to import an Excell sheet or link an Excell spreadsheet, I
get a message stating, "Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It then wants to repair my
open database and send a report to Microsoft. This happens with differant
databases and differant spreadsheets. Does anyone have any idea what is
causing this.

Hi Ken,

Have you tried running Office XP setup and repairing the installation?
Also, make sure that you have installed up-to-date service packs.
 
Thanks for your response. Earlier I had tried to download and install
Service PAK 3 and the installation failed. Last night after requesting
help, I decided to try again and was succesful. This solved the problem.
