problem installing updates

Ever since i had my computer worked on by a friend i'am not able to download computer updates. I get a message that says, product key used to install windows is invalid. Please contact system administrator or retailor to obtain valid product key. What is this? How do I go about doing it? Did my friend not fix my computer properly?I have a problem understanding everything. Could you pleas guide me as to what should I do? How do I obtain valid product key? i would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you

You call microsoft and give them your credit card number to purchase a
legal copy of Windows. Or if you don't like that option there is always
your local computer store who will be more then happy to help you out
getting a legal copy.

You could call MS and speak to them about your copy of Windows..

For the updates...Go to the MS Download website and manually download the updates you need installed...here is the link to the downlaod page..

You could chose your OS and put in a keyword search as 'update'. Then download the updates manually and install them
