Problem Installing Promise Ultra 133 TX2 Card

System is a 1.6 GHz Celeron with 256M RAM running Embedded XP

After installing a Promise Ultra 133 TX2 PCI IDE card and starting the
system, the Add New Hardware Wizard launches as expected. I point to the
appropriate driver installation file and get the following error message:

Unable to Install Hardware

.... section missing from INF.

This set of driver files works fine under the full version of XP. I added
the Promise IDE components to the .slx file and rebuilt the image to no
avail. I believe that I may be missing one (or maybe more) components
required for adding new hardware. However, being new to embedded system
development, I am currently at a stand-still.

Any help / experience would be greatly appreciated. What do I need to do to
properly install this device???

Thanks,

Bob

When you used the TAP utility was the Promise Ultra 133 TX2 PCI IDE install
and attached to the system? If it was not then the TAP utility will not see
the device and the component need for the device will not be pull in. I
guess you may should use TAP when the system have the Promise Ultra 133 TX2
PCI IDE installed and functioning.

Bob,

Are you sure the Promise driver is covered by the components from XPE database?
You could componentize the driver using CD and add it to the database. Then re-run TAP on target and import the PMQ. Since your
Promise driver is already there, it will be recognized and listed to your platform macro component.
