problem inserting text into Word 2007

All of a sudden, pasting text into Word 2007 from another source takes
forever. E.g., if I go to a Web site and copy text and insert it into a Word
2007 document, it takes forever to show up in the document. Also, if I open a
Word attachment in an online course management system (ANGEL), it takes
forever to open. What's changed to cause this delay in functioning? What's
the fix?
 
1. Are you on a network?
2. If so, do you connect to drives that are not on your computer?
3. If so, are any of these drives marked as inaccessable?
