problem in setup

i upgraded my computer from Windows 98 to Windows 2000
Professional, and at some point i received the following
notice (partial):
setup was unable to retrieve the production
identification of the system you are installing.

what does this message mean?
how do i fix the problem?

I dont see that exact error listed but it sounds like your Product key
either is corrupt or not valid. Whats the exact error message?
