problem in creating and using the briefcase

Hello all,

can anyone help with windows briefcase? I have been using the
briefcase for years to synchronise files between my computer and an
external hard disk I bring at work. Recently I had to format the hard
disk of my computer. I then tried to create a new briefcase and when I
try to copy files and folders into it I get this error message:"
"briefcase cannot directly work with databases created by a previous
version of the microsoft jet database engine. Use the conversion
feature in your application to convert the database to the current
version". If I try to create a new briefcase and copy one folder at a
time into it I get a message saying that the file cannot be added
because the the briefcase contains already a synchronised copy of the
file. Has anyone enocuntered this problem? How can I sort it out?

I haven't used Briefcase in years....what about trying something else
(newer) ? SyncToy is mentioned frequently in these groups (it's an MS
download) - or you could use what I use, which is SecondCopy from
www.centered.com (there's a free eval).

thanks I'll try out synctoy, it's easier to start with a new program rather
than trying to patch up the old one...
