Access Problem in Accessing the COM1 port on Win XP

HI,
I had developed an appln which uses COM1 port on Win 98. it is working fine. But when i ran the application on win XP, the data does not seem to go out of the COM1 port. It sends data very rarely but seems to receive some data properly. What could be the reason and what is the solution to this problem? Help me asap please!
