Problem formatting pivot table headers

I had to edit a pivot table to accomodate a change in the excel report
columns however I'm unable to save any formatting I've performed on the
column headers.

I have a pivot table that is reading data from another worksheet. I had to
add a few columns to the source worksheet, so therefore, the pivot table
columns automatically changed as well. Unfortunately though, the pivot table
column headers did not inherit the propper cell background colors. My source
worksheet uses yellow for the header backgrounds however the new headers in
my pivot table contain purple by default. Every time I switch the background
color of these headers and then refresh the data, the color simply switches
back to purple again.

How can I fix this to display the propper colors?

Thanks.

Right-click on a cell in the pivot table and choose Table Options
Make sure that the Preserve Formatting box is checked.

To format cells, enable selection should be turned on.
To enable selection --
From the Pivot toolbar, choose PivotTable>Select
If it's not already activated, click on Enable Selection

To format a section of a pivot table, e.g. column headings --
Move the pointer to the top of the column field button in the pivot table.
When the black arrow appears, click to select the column headings
Format the selected headings

Hi Debra.

I tried doing as you mentioned however the cell colors still reset every
time I refresh the data.

In my "table options", "preserve formatting" is checked and "Select" -->
"Enable Selection" is highlighted. I then select the cell I wish to change
the color of and click the "Fill Color" (paintbucket) button. The color
successfully changes however after I right-click and select "Refresh Data",
the color simply switches back again.

Any other ideas as to what may be causing this?

Thanks again.

Ensure "Auto format table" is unchecked in pivot table options but "perserve
formatting" is checked. Then format to your needs, save and that should do
the trick.

Hope this helps.
