Problem after formatting and installing windows xp

Hi

I have 2 hard drive a maxtor and a western digital both of them in ntfs
partition
My computer started to slowing down and i reinstalled windows xp on my
maxtor hard drive.
I successfully install windows xp on my maxtor hd but when i connect my wd
hd it doesn't recognize the partition and when i want to access the drive win
xp told me to format the hd.

so, i'm just wandering if anybody know how to fix the problem? because all
my data is the wd hd

I would try changing the boot order in the BIOS to make
the system boot to the second hard drive.

If it can't, then you know something is wrong with it and
you can run CHKDSK on it.
