Problem after AVG update

After applying the latest update to AVG 7.0 I seem to have problems. The
AVG update console always says an internet connection cannot be found, and
the email scanner does not work at all, so I can't download my emails. I
know there are ways around this, but I would like to rectify the source of
the problem.
Can anyone offer any advice?

I had the same problem with my AVP updates. I don't know if AVG and AVP are
related? ... but it seems a bit of a co-incidence. The updates I got last night
seem to have corrupted. Re-downloading did nothing, I restored my defs from
yesterday and all is ok.
 
Suggest you uninstall completely then re-install. Don't forget to update
that too!
Looks like you've somehow got a corrupted program. Perhaps from a bad
patch..... or a patch that got interrupted?
 
I've seen this after updating 2 machines
It takes a little time after the update for the email scanner to reconfigure
but it will do so after 60 seconds or so.
Just wondering if by dropping the connection at that stage the process gets
interrupted.
