Hi there,

I have inherited an acccess database and have had to do some troubleshooting
on an error message which is now sorted out.

I now am unable to add a new record in form view, however if I enter the
information directly into the table there is no problem.

Please could you help with what might be going wrong?
Thanks

Open the form in design view. Open the properties window for the form. Is
the Allow Additions property set to yes?

Since you mentioned the trouble-shooting and error message, and seemed to
connect them with the new issue, what were they about?

The error message was; "the value you entered isn't valid for this field". I
had to cheat to get this to work, so the two may be related. I had to take
an earlier copy of the database and export the object into the newer version.
One of the fields still doesn't work but at least I don't get the error
message any longer.

I have manipulated a query to get the data into a report that I need so this
is only a cosmetic issue now ( I think!)

Does it matter that Data Entry is set to NO on the Form properties though?

That could do it! Check Access HELP on that property...
