Problem adding favorites with GPO to redirected favorite-folder (new alias from sender)

Sorry I posted this message again, used the wrong support-alias.

Hi!

We are using a custom GPO to redirect the users favorites-folder to a
network share. This works fine.
We also have a policy that adds some specific favorites for the same users.

If we run RSOP to se the effective policy settings the added favorites seem
to apply but they never show up in the users redirected favorites folder.
Other settings like default start page in this policy works fine though.

Any ideas?

It seems that the redirected favorites-folder are the cause for the added
favorites not to appear.

Hello Marcus,

Thank you for posting here.
To troubleshoot this issue, could you please provide me with more
information?
1. How did you redirect the users¡¯ favorites-folder to a network share?

By default, you can't use folder redirection in group policy for the "My
Favorites" folder. The other folders that are redirected are:

Application Data
Desktop
My Documents
Start Menu

Based on my research, for redirecting the users favorites folder, you
should make a registry change to the following key:

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\shell
folders = favorites "C:\winnt\profiles\myuser"

hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\user
shell folders = favorites "C:\winnt\profiles\myuser"

hkey_users\.default\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\shell
folders = favorites "C:\winnt\profiles\myuser"

Please confirm whether or not this is the same method you used.

2. How did you add specific favorites for the same users?

To isolate this issue, we need the detailed steps to reproduce your issue.

Some reference information:

How to dynamically create secure redirected folders by using Folder
Redirection in Windows 2000

In addition, you may try the following steps:

1. Stop redirect folder and check if you could add specific favorites.

2. Add these specific favorites to the network share folder directly for a
workaround. Do you need to use two steps to modify the users¡¯ favorites?

I hope this information proves helpful to you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me
know. I am happy to be of assistance.

Thanks and regards,

Alex Zhang
