I cooked and reloaded my machine...created a local
user...did nothing else...and this user account has
administrative privileges. How is this possible and how
do I make the account lose the privileges?? Thank You!

From Control Panel ... User Accounts will give you the ability to change the
privileges of the user. If that is the only user I don't believe you will
be able to lower the privileges as you need at least one administrator.

I was just using that user as an example. I tried
creating a domain account without any privileges and no
matter what I try they all have administrator privilges.
There is an admininstrator account...I just don't
understand how the new users I am creating have those
privileges when it is a completely reloaded machine. I
checked there account and they are not part of any groups
accept for the restricted user group. I have reloaded the
machine twice and it still does the same thing. Any more
advice...

Thank you very much,

When you created the account via Control Panel, User Accounts, one of the
options you apparently missed is whether to make the account an
Administrator or Limited User.

Hello John,

I have a couple of questions for you -

1. You stated that you created both a local user and a domain user and
both had Admin rights, can you tell me how you created each user and what
groups you added them to?

2. My assumption is that this is a Windows XP machine in a Windows 2000
domain, is that the case?

2. What are you checking to see if the user has admin rights?

Best regards,
