Printing problems with Excel

My client sends me Excel files of part lists (column A). I need to translate
in column B.
At the left side of column A is the narrow column which shows the numbers
from 1 to xx for each line.
When trying to copy the Excel file in MS Word (translation within Excel is
troublesome), this number column doesn't show. Since I don't want to check
the job on screen, I like to print it with the left number column included.
How do I achieve this task?
I also tried to highlight the number column and column A and print within
Excel, however, the numbers won't print either.

Any hint is appreciated. I have fooled around for too long, but couldn't
find anything in my Excel book about this problem...

Thanks,

In Excel......File>Page Setup>Sheet. Put a check in "Row and Column Headings"
which will print both.

Or insert a new column by selecting Column A and Insert>Columns.

You now have a blank column at the left of your data.

In top cell(A1) of this column enter the number 1.

Hover mouse pointer over bottom right corner of this cell. You will see a
black square and black cross. Right-click on this and drag down Column A as
far as you have data. Release button and select "Fill Series".

You now have consecutive numbers in column A. Do not use the "Row and Column
Heading" in Page Setup>Sheet.

Thanks for the hint. It works in English! Haven't tried it yet in the
Japanese environment...
95% of everything works in Japanese, but one can never be absolutely sure
before trying!
