When I download pictures and look at them they are great,
but when I print them they are not as clear, I have
tried, adjusting brigtness, dpi and tried it with
different types of paper, adjusted the darker and lighter
settings but I always end up with lines going through the
picture, it almost looks like lines off the paper showing
through can any one help me.
Much appreciated. Canon powershotS30, and Canon S820
printer.

Sounds like printer problems...you may need to
clean your print heads (there should be an option
in printer preferences for this)...or you may need
new cartridges. It's also possible that you have a
mechanical problem that is causing your rollers
to scratch the photo paper.

Might be worth a try to contact Canon support.

In addition to John Inzer's advice, if you aren't already,
try using the Easy Photo Print utility that came with the
printer. It reads the image EXIF data and automatically
optimizes the printer settings. Also, using Canon ink
and paper makes a big difference in photo printing. This
printer does not like generic ink. In my experience,
using the Canon utility, Canon ink and Canon paper produces
excellent results.

It's not his printer, this is a known defect with SP2 and
many photo printers. I have an Epson R200 and since
installing SP2 and using photo printer wizard, all my
pictures come out dark. If I use any other application
print the pictures they come out fine. I wish MS would
fix this issue!
