printing notification balloon

Is there a way to turn off the balloon that pops up saying this document has
been sent to the printer?

Using one of Microsoft's powertoys called Tweakui you can turn off
notification balloons for all programs, if you want to turn off notifiaction
balloons just for your printer then take a look in the printers options and
see if their is a way to disable them.

Go to Start -> Printers and Faxes.
In the toolbar at the top of the window, click on File and
select "Server Properties" from the menu.
In "Server Properties", click on the Advanced tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Show informational
notification for local printers".
Do the same for network printers.
Click OK.
Close Printer and Faxes.
