Printing in Colour on Labels in Word '97

I'm trying to print labels in red.

Having typed in the label text window, highlighted the text, right clicked
and selected font, I've chosen to print in red.

However, the print preview continues to show black and indeed the label
prints in black. It doesn't seem to matter which font I select.

Any help would be most welcome.
 
After typing the label text, click the New Document button. In the
resulting document, format the text any way you like, and print like
any other document. You can also save it as a regular document for
future use.

Thanks for that. I hadn't realised the relevance of the 'New Document'
button. It worked.
