My wife has many files which she has built with Word 2000
SR-1 which print perfectly under Windows ME. But my new
machine has Windows XP Home edition and her files,
principally those with Font size 14, just hang up the
printer.

standard answer #1: update your print drivers.
standard answer #2: contact the printer manufacturer and see if they know of
the problem.
standard answer #3: check the support.microsoft.com knowledge base to see if
they know of the problem.

after that try supplying more details... like printer model, that you have
the latest drivers from the manufacturer, version of word you are using now,
have you tried making new documents with the same fonts to see if they hang
up the printer, does the printer just hang up or does the print queue stop,
does word itself hang up, and anything else you notice.

Dave it is a HP LaserJet 5L printer. Word is Word 2000 SR-
1. What we have found since my first post is that it is
Arial font size 14 that is causing the problem. Arial 12
works find and other type styles in Font size 14 work
fine. It has the appearance that Arial 14 has a problem,
because my wife brought up a file that is in Arial 14
from last year's (and thus my older PC) Easter time and
could not print the untouched file
