Printing a Report paper size problem

Hi,

I am pulling what little hair I have left out. Have a report that I am
trying to print to a printer with tractor feed paper (A4 fanfold) when
printing multiple pages the report seems to creep down the sheet a small
amount with each page. How do I set the report page length I have tried
all page setting. Please help.

Alan:

This is unfortunately a common problem. While there are steps you can take
to minimize this, eliminating it entirely is pretty impossible. The reason
for this is that Access' printing layout dimensions are in twips, whereas
your printer normally layouts out things in pixels, and there isn't always
alignment between the two.

Here's some things to try:

1.) Access' report sections can be sized in factors as small as .0007 inches
or .0018 cm often moving the sizing of your detail or other section
slightly wider or smaller can minimize the impact of the "creep" as things
line up better with the pixel output on your printer.

2.) Although it sounds as if you are using a dot matrix printer, if there's
any way to change the dpi for the output, you might try increasing it so as
to allow for finer resolution; thereby aligning things better.

Another suggestion that I forgot is to use a fixed width or printer font in
your report rather than using a true type font. These fonts are easier to
output for dot matrix printers than true type fonts which are proportionally
sized.
