Printing a footer in Word 2007

I have a document which was created in Word 2003 but I am now using Office
2007.

This document has a footer (page numbers) which shows on screen but doesn't
show in print preview or when printing the document.

Should I have ticked a box somewhere to allow this to print?

Many thanks I have adjusted the margins and the footer is now showing in
Print Preview but why was this not a problem in Word 2003?

When you upgraded to Word 2007, did you perhaps also upgrade to a new
computer with a different OS? That would give you a different printer
driver. Or perhaps you've changed printers?

Yes Suzanne, new computer with Vista and because of this I had to use an
alternative print driver.

Many thanks for your advice.

That would explain it, then. Different printer drivers (even for the same
printer) can have different unprintable areas. You may be able to find an
alternative driver that is more lenient. For example, if you're using the
driver that came with Vista, it may be that the printer manufacturer has a
Vista driver that will be better (and often more full-featured).

Hi Suzanne

Vista couldn't find a driver so I logged on to the manufacturers website.
The model of printer I have doesn't have a Vista driver but it gave an
alternative for a different model number.

Looks as if I will just have to get used to the differences.

Sorry. One of the reasons I didn't want to get Vista was that I was afraid
there would not be drivers for my legacy hardware. As it turns out, I think
HP has now written drivers for both my printers and my scanner, but there
are still perhaps other peripherals that wouldn't work properly. Just
finding an XP driver for my LJ 4100 that was comparable to the W2k driver it
came with was quite a challenge!
