Printers to users

George K. A.

I have a 2003 Domain with 200 student accounts in a small school.
All workstations use xp, students will log on to various machines throughout
the school with their own unique AD accounts. I want them to have printers
always available on any computer when they log onto the domain. We use a
few printers shared to a server and others with HP Jet Direct cards and IP
addresses. Is there any way to have the kids always have a printer no
matter where the log on? Group policy, Roaming profiles or something?

Thanks.

See if the info at http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterAllUsers.htm
helps - this shows a technique to add a Network Printer to a computer
"globally" so that it will be available to anyone that logs on to that
computer.

If a printer is a Local Printer (i.e. on a Standard TCP/ip port), it should
be available to anyone that logs on at that computer.
