Am trying to connect two systems on a home network, both
MS XP Home. Specifically, I'm trying to connect to a
printer wired via USB to an Ethernet-wired computer, from
a wireless notebook (G) through a Netgear router on a DSL
line. None of the devices see each other. Windows
Firewall is OFF, both systems are SP2, user accounts are
setup on both systems for the other system, have run the
Network Setup Wizard, printer is shared . . . What am I
missing ?
..

On the laptop, did you run the Wireless Network Setup Wizard in
Control Panel?
This is quite different that the Network Connection Wizard.
Are you using the same SSID name on the laptop that exists on the
router?
Have you enabled Wireless access on your router?
Have you changed any of the settings on the router?

On the laptop go to Start -> Run -> cmd.exe. Enter ipconfig /all.
What's listed for IP address, subnet mask and default gateway?
They should be:
IP: 192.168.0.XXX (where XXX is a number between 2 and 254)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

You can access the router's settings by going to Start -> Run.
Then enter http://192.168.0.1 which will allow you to make the
neccessary changes.

Check the CD that came with your router for a manual in .pdf
format. It may give some insight into the problem you're having.
