Printer goes off-line

I use a Samsung 1710 but it also happens to Panasonic so
assume problem is with Microsoft software (XP). I can
print, but after leaving the system idle for several
hours the printer automatically resets to off-line. I
can go into the printer software and reset to on-line
again but it only gives, "error printing..." Remedy:
reboot with the printer power turned on.

Also other means fail. Printer power on & off & on --
fails. Printer reset to on-line and then print -- fails;
etc.

Tried all types of settings and no luck, any help?

I am not sure, sometimes it happens when I am entering a
lot of data -- however, I believe I have found the
problem. I did not realize that Window XP has an
automatic shutdown to save power on the USP ports -- why
I do not know because they do not draw that much power.
I have reset my root-USB to eliminate the power outtage
and will see what happens. I did get a freeze but maybe
for some other reason. Anyway, when it does shut down, I
have not found any way to turn on the Root without
rebooting. Thanks
