Printer Driver Installation

I have Vista Home Premium. I'm trying to re-install my HP PSC 1510xi printer
(USB).
The driver will not install. error message : "This Operation requires an
Interactive Windows Station"

Can anyone help ?

The only Vista installation issue that HP addresses on the website concerns
a different error message, but the methods used to resolve it are worth
trying to see if your error persists. Perhaps you have already seen the

No, I've tried all the recommendations , but no luck...I still need some
help !

Are you using the CD that came with the printer? If so, it may be because
the CD doesn't have Vista drivers on it. Try downloading the Vista drivers
from here:

Thanks for your input, John, but I tried that also. Someone suggested to
re-install windows from scratch...that seems too radical....someone help ??

This is a shot in the dark, but if you are somehow being denied the right to
load a driver, you might try to load it in a slightly different way.

Is this an executable application you use to load the printer driver? If
so, then instead of double-clicking it to start the operation, hold down the
shift-key and right-click the icon. Select "run as" then input your
administrator credentials. See if you get a different result.

I have had to do this since running Vista once or twice even when I was
logged on as the administrator. It's still buggy, I guess.

If this doesn't work, please provide more detail as to your loading process,
including how far the load gets prior to the error.
