Printer detection

I have a laptop, with one printer type in my office plugged into the printer port through a docking station, and a different printer at home plugged into a USB port. When I go from work to home I have to change the default printer. I would like to do this automatically based on the status of the machine. I can use the prnmngr command to set the default, but I do not know how to detect which printer is available. Is there a command that will either detect whether a printer is plugged into a specific port, or can I somehow use hardware profiles based on docking status to identify which printer to set as the default?

Go to Help and Support with the search string: profile. There is
relevant help there. You might also try netswitcher which is designed
to control aspects of user profiles. Google: netswitcher. It's not
free, but only 15USD.
