I type a letter on my laptop, save it to a memory stick and then open it on
another persons PC which is connected to their printer. The document is then
printed minus the tails to all tailed lower case letters. How can I solve
this problem simply and without buying my own printer

The simplest solution, which will avoid changing the settings on the OPs
computer, will be to save the document in PDF format. If you don't have a
PDF driver or Word 2007, try PrimoPDF. Take the PDF file and print that.
