Printer connection

I have an HP882C printer with a parallel connection and a
USB connection. This printer has been connected to the
parallel port and the USB port at the same time. The
printer will print when the parallel port is connected,
but will not print when it is connected to the USB port.
Are my USB ports damaged, or is there something else I can
do to fix this problem?

Never hook up both the usb and para at the same TIME!
