Printer and "Safely Remove Hardware" icon

Hi all,

This past weekend a friend helped me install a new printer which is
connected to the computer via a USB cord in the back slot. Since
then, the green "Safely Remove Hardware" wizard icon has been in my
systray. Is this normal? Is it OK to leave my printer connected all
the time? Thank you.

Well my printer is connected all the time so i guess the answer to your
question is 'Yes it is ok to leave your printer connected'. It is also
perfectly normal for the 'safely remove hardware icon' to be in the
notifiaction area. However, in my case i hide this icon so it doesn't become
intrusive. Just right click on a free area of the task bar at the bottom of
your screen, select Properties. In properties click the taskbar tab and then
click the customise button at the bottom of the taskbar window. Look down
the list of icons until you come to the safely remove hardware and then
click on it. on the right you will see a behaviour box. Click the arrow and
select 'Always Hide' then press OK and then OK again in the next window.
Your icon will now be hidden. You can easily see it by clicking the button
on the left of the notification area.
