Print Spooler keeps stopping

I get an Access Violation in the print spooler when I
print sometimes. Is resolved temporarily by restarting
the print spooler but is becoming more frequent and
occuring on more machines. There is a knowledge base
article 816972 which describes the problem but currently
offers no fix. Is there any update to this or anything I
can do?

Is this error happening at workstations or at the Print Server? Clients
shouldn't be spooling print jobs. That should be the Server's job.
 
Unfortunately this is a novell netware network and so
workstations are in workgroups and therefore spool
locally. From what I can gather it is a problem with
windows 2000 service pack 4 and they have a fix but it is
not being released until the next service pack. I wish I
was able to fix this immediately because this is really
causing problems at the moment.
