I would like to use my HP USB Deskjet All-In-One printer as a single home
printer accessed by 2 computers,1 laptop and 1 desktop. My desktop is already
connected to a D-Link DGL4300 G wireless router.
Since my current printer is already connected via USB to my desktop, what do
I need to access the printer, wirelessly with my laptop?
Thanks

Couple of ways to do it - You could buy a print server (wired is
better, you have been warned) and hang it off the router. Then you run
a program on the desktop and the laptop that find the printer on the
network and you are all set. HP has some nice software for their print
servers that is a breeze to use (and it works, they've been doing this
for a while now).

You could also just hang the printer off the desktop, install it, turn
on printer sharing, then install it on the laptop by going into
printer setup, add printer, network printer, find the desktop, all
set.

I like the print server better - but I will mention one thing. Most
printers tend to come with software that works to query the printer
for things like ink levels, etc. Some (all?) of this software is
designed to work with a printer hanging off the system that has the
software on it. If you hang the printer off a print server you may not
be able to control it as well through the software.
