Print Screen--Can't Get it To Paste

I've read all the posts about using the Print Scrn utility in XP, but no matter what I do (including downloading the 3rd party application recommended in one of the posts), I can't paste what I've supposedly copies into ANY program (I've tried Paint, Word, WordPerfect and even the Clipboard). What am I doing wrong?

When you press the Print Screen key, you should see a momentary blink of
your cursor, indicating the copy process took place.

Then to see what you have copied to the clipboard, type CLIPBRD on the Run
line and hit Enter.

Assuming you can see what you copied, exit the clipboard and go to the paint
program, click Edit and select Paste.

You can edit any text in Paint for printing.

You can also see what you copied using WordPad, by pressing CTRL + V

As long as what you copied to the clipboard is visible, you should be able
to paste into any program.
