I have a machine that was just upgraded from Win 2k Pro to Win XP Pro. I
use print screen to capture images from time to time and found that what
used to capture and export through a graphics editor to about 50k is now
exporting to 90k. Does Win XP capture at a higher DPI or resolution? Is
there some other explanation?

YES! XP "native" resolution if now 800x600, which can create larger files.
Have you "compared" the same display resolution?

Check your color depth.

You may have been using 16 bit on your old desktop
and you're now using 24 bit.

Or your screen resoution has changed.
