Print Scans

Looking for some initial links to good sites detailing methods and/or
concerns when attempting good quality scans of photo prints. I am
currently using an Epson 1240U. Want to see the maximum quality
afforded by this vs an upgrade to a scanner with better spec's. I
suspect that for the best quality scans of colour prints that this
unit may be able to deliver. thanks

If you have the negatives scanning those should produce a much better
end result, but your Epson isn't the way to get it.

Yeah. I use a Nikon V ED for negatives, but these prints are very old
(c. 1940's) with no negatives available.

Which suggests that scanning at 600ppi will get most of the detail
from the prints.
