Print Problem

Hello and thanks for reading my question.
I have a large file with multiple worksheets and while setting up the print
areas, things started to freak out.
While in Page Break Preview, when I try to enlarge the print area, it says
"Margins do not fit page size." This is unusual because I can normally
adjust this and it just reduces the scale to ~95%. Now it automatically
takes it down to 10% and puts in tons of page breaks.
I don't know if this makes any sense, but basically it adjusts the size of
the paper, not the print area.
Does anybody understand what I am talking about?
Thanks,
Jim

Yes, Jim. Been there - done that. It isn't really a problem so much as
it is Excel trying to be smarter than you are. The system is trying to take
existing knowledge regarding your worksheet (paper size, margins, print area,
etc) and make all of that congeal for a print solution. Unfortunately,
Excel's solution isn't always correct. I ran into this when processing HUGE
spreadsheets to 11X17 landscaped print and needing it to all fit into "1 wide
- many tall," prints. I found that once you get the arrangement correct,
Excel will be smart enough to remember what was done. If, however, you are
continually changing things around (either manually, yourself or by altering
the worksheet to change "something"), then Excel will try to out-think you
again. One thing to try is, after getting it "correct", save the workbook,
close the workbook, then re-open the workbook. That sequence seems to get
Excel to memorize your settings.
