Primary/Secodary DNS servers

Hi,

I have 2 public DNS servers, primary and secondary. Their configuration
looks correct since zone transfer happens regularly. But for some reason when
DNS service on Primary DNS server fails, DNS service on Secondary DNS server
also fails at the same time. Thus, no use of Secodary DNS server. I checked
the logs , but there are no DNS errors at all. Any ideas on this weired
behaviour?

Can you elaborate on the term "fail"?
Exactly what is the behavior each DNS server exhibits?

We really do need to know precisely what "fails" means.

What does it do? What errors do you see precisely?

Have you checked the Event logs?

What happens when you use NSLookup to EXPLICITLY
select the NS server and ask a question?

How about if you run NSLookup from the server itself?

What names fail? Internal, external, or both?
