Primary HD Drive Not Found...:-(

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop with a W2K system. Today I booted
the laptop but immediately got this message: "Primary Hard Disk Drive
Not Found".

I tried to insert another hard disk (with Windows XP Pro) and it booted
normaly.

Can you help me?

sounds like the drive has failed...
but try it again as it might have just been a loose connection

I tried several times to reseat it but without results... Is there
nothing else to do?

it does not look good but...
try seeing if the bios has an autodetect option
and try again...

if that fails...you could try putting the drive in the freezer for a few
hours...
there is a chance (very small ) that your drive might work long enough for
your
to backup your data.

otherwise...try just the opposite and with the drive connected...
let the machine run for a few hours and let the drive warmup...
then reboot and see if it's detected...
that worked for me once also

Sounds like the disk is hosed, tried it in another machine?
